With the advancement of converged media and the continuous emergence of new media technologies, traditional deployment systems are increasingly unable to adapt to new business models. The group must address the shortcomings of its current IT infrastructure: fragmented deployments, lack of resource sharing, high management/maintenance costs, and insufficient flexibility.
The goal is to build a sustainably operational, elastically scalable, and manageable Yangcheng Evening News private cloud platform that supports the digital transformation of the newspaper industry and the construction of smart campus initiatives over the next 1-3 years.
Technical Architecture Overhaul
The transformation adopts a hyper-converged architecture, comprising a private cloud platform (100+ cloud hosts), a cloud desktop environment (250 standard + 8 high-performance desktops), a 200TB usable distributed storage pool, and integration of legacy VMware resource pools. The infrastructure is deployed across 32 physical nodes to achieve unified resource management and operational efficiency.
The platform meets the demands of press industry transformation by supporting the operation of Oracle database and Weblogic middleware-based omnimedia news production systems, professional audio-visual processing-enabled converged media editing platforms, and future customer big data applications planned for gradual implementation by Yangcheng Evening News;
Integrate existing VMware resource pools and enable future integration of PowerVM and other resource pools;
Considering data security, management convenience, and future scalability, deploy 258 new cloud desktops for internal staff use.
