China Mobile Communications Group Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Co., Ltd. (China Mobile Guangxi), a subsidiary of China Mobile, is the leading mobile communications operator serving and growing within Guangxi. Guided by the strategic vision proposed by the Regional Party Committee to establish Guangxi as the China-ASEAN Information Exchange Hub, the company adheres to the mission of "advancing Guangxi's societal informatization, serving governmental digital transformation projects, and fulfilling its responsibility as a cornerstone of the information society." By leveraging its comprehensive advantages in network infrastructure, service capabilities, operational expertise, and technological resources, it is committed to building an ubiquitous and omnipotent digital ecosystem, thereby driving the development of a prosperous and harmonious new Guangxi.
Through continuous IT support cloud platform development from 2011 to 2014, China Mobile Guangxi established internal X86 resource pools and AIX minicomputer resource pools, constructing a heterogeneous, cross-domain, and cross-data center IT support cloud platform while progressively refining cloud platform O&M management systems. By Phase II completion, the cloud environment hosts 199 servers, 463.05TB of storage, and 421 virtual machines. Pre-optimization challenges include:
1. Insufficient Centralized Resource Monitoring
The cloud platform exhibits gaps in asset management, architectural topology visualization, and multi-dimensional resource utilization statistics. Current monitoring interfaces lack holistic and intuitive resource status representation;
2. Inadequate Heterogeneous Resource Governance:Management capabilities focus solely on traditional compute/storage/network resources, failing to align with future cloud evolution trends. Integration of emerging technologies (e.g., containerization, AIOps) requires exploration;
3. Data & Application Security Vulnerabilities:Legacy physical backup methods and security mechanisms prove inadequate for cloud environments in both management efficiency and protective efficacy, necessitating next-gen data protection frameworks;
4. Systemic Security & Performance Demands:Ongoing optimization needs for foundational system capabilities, including security hardening (system/account/login security) and performance enhancements for management/monitoring tools.
1. Centralized Resource Visualization Module:Implement an intuitive dashboard for consolidated resource display and reporting, seamlessly integrated with large-screen displays and mobile terminals;
2. Platform Energy Efficiency Optimization:Enhance virtualization consolidation ratio from 1:3 to 1:10; Improve power conversion efficiency from 30% to 70%;
3. Quota Management & IT Investment Quantification:Implement domain/system/department-based quota authorization with real-time usage tracking to prevent over-allocation and optimize resource utilization;
4. Security Enhancement:Deploy professional cloud platform data backup solutions and application security mechanisms to ensure operational integrity.
Through three-phase development, the cloud platform has achieved comprehensive enhancements in centralized resource visualization, quota management, energy consumption management, and platform security. These advancements further optimize cloud service request processes and O&M support capabilities, achieving truly stable and quantifiable cloud service capabilities.
